It has a good potential, but lacks features and has some compatibility issues at the moment. I think they'll eventually fix most issues and it'll be a great browser in the future, but it needs some work at the moment.
Microsoft Edge is a web browser developed by Microsoft and included in the company's Windows 10 operating systems, replacing Internet Explorer as the default web browser on all device classes.

I'm interested to hear where do you see this potential. Because if Edge is any similar to IE, I'm not even gonna try it.
It's brand new. So it will have many fixes and improvements over the upcoming years. Microsoft's new way of gathering data with Windows 10 will give them deeper insight on the needs of its users as well.
Obviously, they want to compete with other browsers such as Google Chrome or Firefox which have been more and more popular in the recent years. It also explains why they didn't just make yet another version of Internet Explorer. They probably felt like the IE name was not good for them anymore.
The name change is a sign to me. They want to start over because IE wasn't synonymous with quality anymore ( if it ever was ). For this reason and the others I've mentionned, I believe they'll put a lot of efforts in making Edge a top-quality browser. So Edge, the name itself, can make us nod with appreciation.
Of course, I had to rate it as it is now, so that's why it deserves a 5. It still looks like it's in a beta phase!
