One thought I have is to connect the police with the young people through police sponsored activities, baseball, basketball etc. I am 78 years young and when I was young The Big Brothers were very active in cities to keep the young people busy with positive activities. Ideas to help lower city crime? Sandy B

I think you hit the nail on the head when you talk about police sponsored activities. A lot of the kids don't trust cops, and cops will sometimes lack a required human approach to certain situations. Both sides can benefit from such activities.

Thank you for your input and kind words. Are you having youth city crime problems in Canada as much as here in the USA? Please share your thoughts.

Well, I would lie if I'd say there's no crime. We still have organized crime in the biggest cities, but according to Statistic Canada, the country's crime rate is declining: Link. Not sure about youth crimes in particular, but I think these stats give a pretty good picture of things nonetheless.
