The fact that the majority of votes is "yes" is honestly disturbing. True, the original intent of GamerGate was to expose corruption. This is, in theory, an honorable cause (even though there is basically no legitimate evidence to show that this was a problem in the first place), but good intentions aren't what count. This turned into a hate engine, facilitating violent, appalling, criminal threats and exposing the gaming community at its most vicious. The gaming community is still struggling to gain legitimacy in the eyes of the general public; this controversy set us back by years.
