It all depends on the context.

If someone is thanking everyone that matters to them, all the connections that produced their work, and acting as if their success is a blessing, then I do. I don't necessarily agree that some supernal entity actually had the focus and attention to guide them, but I don't see much harmful about the idea. I do worry that it might reduce their attention on the specific agents in their life, their own hard work and the contributions of others, but I believe it is possible to correct for that bias.

But if someone is acting as if their success is somehow thereby objectively exalted, if they are expressing an endorsement of the divine and an entitlement, then I find it grotesque. It is blasphemous, arrogant, evil, ignorant, and vile.
