A free and open internet is the greatest tool available to humankind on the planet right now. It has the capacity to educate and liberate people all over the world, and for that reason it has become threatening to those who have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo, or, simply keeping people ignorant.
Within my own lifetime the internet has enabled a level of global consciousness never before possible, it is revolutionary by nature, and therefore will continue to be targeted by repressive forces. If we humans wish to keep this treasure alive, we will have to fight to protect it from those who would destroy it.
