Information

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, commonly abbreviated as MGSV, is an open world action-adventure stealth video game developed by Kojima Productions, directed, designed, co-produced and co-written by Hideo Kojima for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The game is the eleventh canonical and final installment in the Metal Gear series and the fifth within the series' chronology. It serves as a sequel to Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, and a continuation of the narrative established there, and a prequel to the original Metal Gear game. It carries over the tagline of Tactical Espionage Operations first used in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Set in 1984, the game follows the mercenary leader Punished "Venom" Snake[N 1] as he ventures into Afghanistan and the Angola—Zaire border region to exact revenge on the people who destroyed his forces and came close to killing him during the climax of Ground Zeroes.

The game is nothing like the other MGS games. I've been playing it for 20 hours now. Aside from the prologue, the story is non-existent, the setting never changes, and the missions are almost the same. None of the villains have shown up since the prologue either, not even the slightest mention of anything that happened prior to going to Afghanistan. I'm a big fan of MGS games, but honestly I would give this game a 6/10 so far, comparing with 3 and 4, which I would both give a 10. I can't believe I'm saying this, but the last CoD game was more inventive than this.

"not even the slightest mention of anything that happened prior to going to Afghanistan"
There is literally a whole game about it... Peace Walker, never heard of it?

Personally i have only played MGS:3 and MGS:Peace Walker, and MGS 5 it's not at the same level of story but the gameplay is very good (at least in my opinion).

So i would rate it 8/10 because as a game is very good even if it felt lacking compared to his prequel
