IF and it's a big IF the democratic party stayed true to it's party line a weak federal government, states' rights, and strict adherence to the Constitution, I would have given them high marks. (Yes that was what the party was founded on) but they have long since given that up for bigger government, ignore the Constitution, ignore state's rights.

The Democratic Party is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States, along with the Republican Party.
Tracing its origins back to the Democratic-Republican Party, the modern Democratic Party was founded around 1828, making it the oldest political party in the world that is still in existence.
