Many of the problems we have today can be traced back to population growth (i.e. large food demand). However, our large population has provided many benefits too (i.e. innovation).
Is overpopulation the biggest problem the human race currently has?

Renowned Danish environmentalist Bjørn Lomborg believes that the panic about the overpopulation of the Earth and the coming apocalypse is somewhat exaggerated. In his opinion:
1) Oil and gas run out ever, for the majority of stocks is not explored.
2) Since 1949, the percentage of hungry people in the world decreased from 45 to 18%.
3) Forest area has increased, in spite of the deforestation in the world.
4) Environmental pollution is actively reduced over the past 20 years.
However, as he emphasizes, the situation can change at any time
