Lobbyists are important to our Representatives and Senators. There is no way that any one person can "listen" to each and every constituent in his/her district.

We have a representative system of governing in the US. In a perfect system, the lobbyists would actually represent the constituents, not just the moneyed and corporate interests.

What we need to do is find a way to get the money out of politics and change the focus from corporate beneficiaries to constituent politics.

Yes. Lobbyists need to go away so our "civil servants" can hear what people WITHOUT any money are saying.

Not to say this will stop the problem of the wealthy influencing the legislators for the benefit of the wealthy, but it would be a good start.

I know this sounds great but what if the lobbyist was hired by a project you were interested in as a constituent. How would you feel if your lobbyist was allowed in the door. I wish we voted for only saints but we don't or don't vote them out off office when we discover they are not a saint. When it comes down to it it is our Rep that lets the lobbyist and money influence. So the real problem is the Rep and the constituents for not sending the Rep packing. If constituent voted money and lobbyist influenced Reps out of office the money and lobbyist would stop.

It was law at one time and bribery was not legal either.
