Fifty Shades of Grey is a 2015 American erotic romance film directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson with a screenplay by Kelly Marcel, based on a novel of the same name by E. L. James, about the relationship between a wealthy businessman and a young student. The film stars Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele, a college graduate who begins a sadomasochistic relationship with young business magnate Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan). The film was written following the huge success of the books selling over 100 million copies and being translated into 52 languages.
